초록
This paper is to investigate the absence of the intermediate CP and the intermediate EPP in the raising and ECM constructions. The EPP can be reformulated in terms of the proposed Generalized C-T Feature Inheritance (GFI), which defines that all inflectional features including the EPP feature are properties of C, the phase head, and are inherited by T. Given GFI, there is no EPP unless there is C. I propose that the raising and ECM constructions are Spec-less bare ToPs without CP layers. Then, there are neither intermediates CPs nor intermediate EPPs in the raising and ECM constructions.
