Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show the important contents about naming speed and reading fluency interventions for children with learning disabilities through reviewing of preceding studies. The reading abilities are very important skills, because they are foundational in every subject at school. They are divided into word decoding and reading comprehension. The phonological awareness and phonological processing ability are needed for word decoding. The reading speed and accuracy are needed for reading comprehension. The reading fluency, that is reading rapidly and correctly, plays an important role in connecting word decoding with reading comprehension. The reading fluency for children with learning disabilities is not acquired of itself through age or grade. Hence more systematic and efficient interventions are needed for reading fluency. Repeated reading interventions through peer tutoring, partner reading strategy are practiced for reading fluency recently and so does the multicomponent reading intervention and RAN task training to children with learning disabilities. But the endeavor and recognition on naming speed and reading fluency are insufficient and not systematic. Therefore we need to found the efficient interventions and apply for reading fluency for children with learning disabilities.
