Abstract

The purpose of this study was to considerate the research's validity and possibility of adaptation of RAN and Double-deficit hypothesis influenced on reading for the children with reading disabilities, reading difficulties including general reader through a foreign precedent studies and researches published from 1997 to 2009 at domestic journal or dissertation to a graduated school. The recent researches on RAN showed that RAN appropriate as a task measuring processing speed, explain reading problem beyond phonological-core deficits to be dominant position. On this study the total 45 studies including 2 studies for intervention were reviewed according to RAN task's characters(definition, type of task), subjects, and the relation with early reading varies and sub-reading skills for the children with reading disabilities, reading difficulties including general reader. As a result, the results varied because of the subjects' age, grade, type of task(colors, numbers, letters, objects), reading levels, the number of subjects), specially as the instruments for measurement. Therefore it was difficult that the results were compared with others. On these studies, naming speed indicated as phonological processing procedure, and it was confused if naming speed improved according the age, reading experience. Also, it do not predict the reading comprehension. Finally, Discussion on the trend of reading instruction and future researches were presented.
