Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that affect spinal cord injury among disabled populations. To achieve this goal, the data from the 2011 Study on National Survey of the Disabled Person were analyzed. The subjects were 18 years old or above and who suffered from spinal cord injury. The data were analyzed by logistic regression analysis, and the significance level was set to p<.05. The results are as follows. The participation of people with spinal cord injury in physical activities was statistically significantly associated by the self-rated health, people with chronic disease, people who received continuous treatment, experience of grief or despair persistent for more than 2 weeks over the recent one year, not necessary of pressure sore, not necessary of catheterisation under management, satisfied with number of friends, perceptual intermediate and high hierarchical level of affiliated class, people who were the beneficiary of National Basic Livelihood Security, mild degree of disability. The conclusion is that people with better subjective and physical health status, and people who receive treatment, having better pair relationships, and lower degree of disability have significant association in participation physical activity against spinal cord injury among disabled person. Thus, for the promotion of physical activity in spinal cord injury, socio-demographic, physical, and psychological condition have to be considered in designing intervention for better health status among disabled persons.
