승마운동프로그램이 지적장애아동의 사회 적응력에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 지적장애아동에게 있어서 승마운동프로그램이 사회 적응력 향상에 효과가 있는지를 검증하고자 하는 목적에서 실시되었다. 서울시 금천구 소재 초등학교 특수반에 재학 중인 복합장애가 없으며, 독립적 보행이 가능하고, 질병을 앓고 있지 않는 지적장애아동 8명과 비장애아동 12명을 대상으로 약 8주간 승마운동프로그램이 실시되었다. 신체적, 정서적 측면의 측정을 위한 승마운동 프로그램 평가척도 HREPS(Horse Riding Exercise Program Scale)와 사회성숙도 검사를 이용하여 승마운동프로그램 전ㆍ후 및 사회적응력이 측정되었다. 승마운동프로그램 실시 후 프로그램 전과 비교하여 신체적, 정서적 측면에서는 지적장애 아동과 비장애아동 모두에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈으며(p<.05) 사회적 측면은 실험군과 대조군 모두에서 사회성숙도검사(SMS)의 6개 하위요인(자조활동, 이동, 작업, 의사소통, 자기관리, 사회화요인)에서 승마운동프로그램의 사전보다 사후에서 평균의 상승을 볼 수 있었으며 의사소통 요인을 제외한 5가지 하위요인에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타내고 있다(p<.05). 또한, 사회성숙도 검사에서 가장 중요 시 되는 사회연령(SA)과 사회지수(SQ)는 모두 증가하여 승마운동프로그램을 통한 사회성숙도 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과는 승마운동프로그램이 지적장애아동의 사회 적응력을 유의하게 향상시키는 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to examine whether the horse racing exercise program has effects on social adaptability of the children with intellectual disabilities. The horse racing exercise program was conducted on 8 children with intellectual disabilities, who had no multiple disabilities, could walk independently, and had no diseases, in the special class, and 12 nondisabled children, of the elementary school located in Geuncheon-gu, Seoul. The social adaptability of the above- mentioned children before and after the horse racing exercise program was conducted were measured by using the HREPS(Horse Riding Exercise Program Scale) to measure the physical and emotional aspects and the social maturity scale. There were statistically significant differences in the physical and emotional aspects of both the children with developmental disability and the normal children between before and after the horse racing exercise program was conducted. In the social aspect, the average score was found to be higher in 6 subordinate factors (self-help activities, movement, work, communication, self-management, socialization) of the social maturity scale (SMS) in both the experimental group and the controlled group after the horse racing exercise program was conducted than before and there were statistically significant differences in the self-help activities, movement, work, self-management, socialization factors (p<.05), except communication factors. In addition, both the social age (SA) and the social quotient (SQ), which are considered the most important factors in the social maturity scale, increased, so the social maturity effect through the horse racing exercise program could be confirmed. Based on the above results, it can be seen that the horse racing exercise program can significantly enhance the social adaptability of the children with intellectual disabilities.
