초록
In this paper, we provide the explicit interpretation about the on-glide deletion phenomenon as the function of the onset cluster simplification in South Kyungsnag (KS) Korean dialect through the Optimality Theoretic approach. In KS Korean, the complex onset like CGV sequence is prohibited so the glides are deleted to avoid this kind of a marked syllable structure. However, in Standard Korean syllable structures endure the CGV complex onset not to violate Syllable Contact constraint at the coast of the marked structure. From this analysis, we could see that glides are part of onset in Korean and the syllable structure of KS Korean is less marked than the Standard Korean in terms of the complex onset cluster perspective.
