Abstract
The purpose of this study is to report on the process of developing a word list for teaching the Korean language (RWL) and constructing a searching system on Microsoft’s EXCEL. First, the existing lists of basic Korean words are analysed (i.e., reference materials, vocabulary selection procedure etc.). Based on the analysis, I constructed and analysed three million-scaled corpus, consisting of 4 sub-corpus (‘Sejong Spoken Corpus’, ‘Korean movies and TV dramas,’ ‘textbooks,’ and ‘TOPIK’), 9 existing word lists, and 2 general corpus. Based on these source corpus I made 4 separated lists and combined them on EXCEL. Following that, various information (ID, parts-of-speech, meanings, guide words, frequency, range between lists, proficiency levels, etc.) were attached to every word. Finally, the concluding case study showed that the RWL can make reliable vocabulary lists depending on the levels of the number of words
