Abstract

Prior research has indicated that choices of communication media would be different depending on the level of equivocality of message. Higher equivocality messages would be exchanged through face to face communications, lower equivocality messages would be exchanged through Computer Mediated Communication(CMC). However, these studies have limitation that ignored individual differences in experience which affect communication activities. This study disclosed equivocality of various levels and confirmed the influence given to CMC satisfaction by personal experiences through collecting real exchanged messages. The level of equivocality of collected messages divided into two dimension by exploratory factor analysis. Both of lower and higher equivocality messages were exchanged through CMC. AMOS model analysis was designed to verify relationship between variables. Personal experiences influence positively on perceived Media Richness and the perceived Media Richness were found to be mediating individual experience and CMC satisfactions.
