Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, strategic human resource decision-making using HR data has become important, and there is increasing demand and interest in People Analytics (PA) to support this. This paper explores the necessary competencies for conducting PA through text mining and literature review. While previous studies presented the required competencies for PA using a deductive method through semi-structured interviews and literature research, this study employed an inductive approach using text mining techniques. By complementing previous studies, it aimed to enhance generalizability. The research analyzed LinkedIn PA job posting data, and five key competencies were identified: First, Business and People Acumen; second, Data Analysis; third, Communication; fourth, Problem Solving; and fifth, Interpersonal skills. These five competencies support and supplement the results derived from previous deductive analyses. This adds methodological novelty to existing research and, from a practical perspective, suggests which competencies should be considered important in terms of recruitment and development.
