오늘날 사람들은 ‘종교 다원주의’라는 표현을 과거보다 훨씬 더 자주 사용한다. 나아가 소위 다원주의(Pluralism)를 표방하는 포스트모더니즘의 흐름을 좇아서 사람들은 간혹 거리낌 없이 ‘종교 다원주의(religious pluralism)’에 접근하려고 한다. 그러나 과연 ‘종교 다원주의’와 포스트모더니즘은 서로 관련이 깊은 것일까? 본 논문은 일찍부터 종교인들이 시도했던 종교들 간의 일치(ecumenism) 및 대화를 염두에 두고 ‘종교 다원주의’와 포스트모더니즘 사이에 어떤 유사성 혹은 친족성이 발견될 수 있을지 살피려고 한다. 그러나 비록 포스트모더니즘과 ‘종교 다원주의’는 같은 용어, 예컨대 ‘다원주의’를 함께 사용하기에 겉으론 유사해보이지만, 본질적으로는 서로 전혀 다른 길을 걷는 것 같다. 왜냐하면 서로에게는 근본적으로 차별화된 신 혹은 종교에 대한 이해가 바탕하고 있기 때문이다.
Abstract
It's repeated now more frequently to say about religious pluralism than all bygone ages. Besides, man will oft in public approach to it according to Postmodernism which stands for Pluralism. May be the Postmodernism and religious pluralism. however, indeed intensely related to each other? This paper attempts in shot to consider, what kind of a similitude or affinity can be there between the above mentioned two conceptions, at this very moment it gives of course it's mind to ecumenism, a movement, with that several religions have tried early to dialogue and cooperation. But it seems to me actually that these two conceptions have reciprocally neither similitude nor affinity in their essentialities, even if they are looked alike, as used a same term. for example, pluralism. Because the Postmodernism is based on a very different viewpoint of God and religion.
