Abstract
One of the characteristics of contemporary art is abstractness, and what stands out in abstract art is the “creative act” and “artistic spirit” of the artist. This is because the meaning of “creation” is demonstrated in the presentation of a totally new object without imitating or reproducing a natural object, and the destruction of the specific sensory appearance is used to express the spiritual. Conversely, the characteristic of abstract painting, the lack of the concrete, calls for something that distinguishes abstract painting from “fantasy” or “illusion”; which is “invisible”, that is, “what is essential.” This is formed by the “inner necessity” of the painter, and it can be called the “inner reality” or “spiritual reality.” Therefore, abstract painting can be called “visualization of invisible” with the spiritual reality of painter as motivation, and it can also be called “revelation of being(existence)'. But being more spiritual means that one is farther away from sensibility, and this results in the dismissal of one of the general missions of art, the “implementation of aesthetic works.” Anything that totally ignores the “creative act” or completely ignores “the realization of aesthetic work” cannot be said to be a work of art, strictly speaking. Therefore, one of the important tasks of modern art is to produce a new concept of “beauty” suitable for the modern age called “abstractness.” Likewise, “a question about aesthetic implementation” in abstract art is an important task of modern aesthetics and art philosophy.
