Undergraduate Training of Simultaneous Interpretation: With Special Emphasis on Speech Text Selection for Korean into English

초록

본 논문에서는 학부 통역교육, 특히 한영동시통역 교육에 있어서 스피치텍스트 선정에 대한 내용을 다루었다. 텍스트의 자료는 8명의 통역전공 학부학생에게 두 개의 스피치텍스트, 즉 국제회의에서 사용되는 공식적 연설문(FST)과 통역전공 학생들이 수업시간에 발표하기 위하여 작성한 비공식적인 연설문(IST)에 대한 통역실기 자료에서 오류를 분석하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 예상했던 바와 같이, 앞서 제시한 세 범주에서 오류율이 공식적 연설문(FST)의 경우 57%, 비공식적 연설문(IST)의 경우 35%로써, FST가 IST보다 오류의 분포가 훨씬 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 특히 내포문의 경우에는 문장이 상대적으로 길고 동사가 문미(sentence end)에 위치하여 통역이 잠시 지연되는 현상이 나타나고 두 연설문이 공통적으로 높은 오류의 빈도를 나타냈다. 이러한 연설문 내용의 특성을 고려하여 동시통역, 특히 한영동시통역의 경우, 국제회의 등 공식석상에서 이루어지는 스피치 텍스트는 학부수업에 적합하지 않다고 판단된다. 그 대안으로써, 학부 동시통역 과목수강학생 각자가 수업의 효율성 제고를 위하여 준비한 단문위주의 스피치 텍스트를 사용하여 한영동시통역 교육을 할 경우, 학생들이 동기가 더욱 부여되고 자신감이 제고되어 학부통역교육의 효과가 극대화될 것으로 사료된다.
