일본 제조업의 동아시아 역내 무역의존도 변화 고찰

본 연구는 그동안 일본경제의 발전과 경쟁력의 핵심으로 지대한 역할을 수행해 온 제조업을 중심으로, 1990년부터 2015년에 이르는 동안 일본과 동아시아 역내 국가를 대상으로 제조업의 생산기술구조 변화와 이로 인해 야기되는 무역의존구조에 대해 실증분석을 전개하였다. 분석결과, 분석기간 동안 일본 제조업의 자국 중간재 투입 비중은 현저하게 낮아져, 자체 생산능력이 상대적으로 하락한 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 곧 동아시아 역내국, 이른바 한국, 중국, ASEAN 등에 대한 수입의존도 상승을 의미한다고 할 수 있다. 특히 일본 제조업의 생산 및 투자 증대가 과거와 달리, 자국의 생산 및 수출 증가로 파급되는 비중보다 동아시아 역내국에 유발되는 효과가 상대적으로 크게 관찰되어, 동아시아 역내 산업 및 무역의 의존구조가 더욱 강화되고 있음이 파악되었다. 더욱이 일본과 동아시아 역내 국가간의 무역의존도의 변화는 일본 제조업의 자부심으로 일컬어져 온 “풀세트형 생산구조→자체 생산능력 확보→고용창출 및 내수 활성화→GDP 성장”이라는 일본경제 고유의 발전 메카니즘을 더 이상 기대하기 어렵다는 것으로 해석할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This Paper focuses on analyzing the Input output structure in the japanese manufacturing industry. Specifically, the study adopted an international input-output framework to quantitatively measure the international interdependence between Japan and East Asian Countries. As a result of analysis, it is clear that the manufacturing technique level of the japanese manufacturing industry is falling notably. Especially, production and investment increase of Japanese manufacturing industry has a relatively large effect on the East Asian countries rather than the proportion of their production and exports increase. This implies an increase in import dependence on East Asian countries, so-called Korea, China and ASEAN. Since change of the input output structure of such the Japanese manufacturing industry means if the elated development mechanism in Japanese economy is collapsing, it can be said that there are many points suggested to Korean manufacturing industry.
