Martin Buber의 예술론을 통해 본 창작무용교육의 의의

Abstract

Buber posed an important question of "What can be said about art as about a being that springs from the being of man?" instead of "What is art?” As seen, he regarded art as offspring from man's being. In other words, art is seen as a part of human nature. Buber devoted a chapter of his book, 『The Kowledge of man』, to the topic of art. His idea of art provides valuable insights into creative dance education: Art involves bipolar action or interaction as process, product, and comprehensive experience. It is represented in Buber's concept of "I - Thou." It can refer to the relationship between a student and the creation of dance in creative dance education. Art is a formed communication in the process and product. There is a dialogue made between a student and the process of work in the creation of dance. Accroding to Buber, it is a dialogue between character and material. But the phenomenon is recognized as the process of characterizing each other. As such, creative dance education has a meaningful work as comprehension of art process. The process of creation of art is considered more valuable than the product. Buber stated that sincere dialogue between "I and Thou" is needed in the process of making an art product. The sincere dialogue is the most important concept in art experiences. Experiences of creative dance are the process that is meaningful itself as an aspect of art education.
