Abstract
This is a study of literature review to delineate the importance of physical mechanism of the psychological trauma as a basic theory of the somatic psychotherapy. This study deals with physiological phenomena that exist in the autonomic nervous system, the three structures of the brain, and the memory function regarding body movements. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, the somatic psychotherapy should be provided an unstructured self-control methodology to keep off a negative image that was formed at the time of the occurrence of the trauma. Secondly, a here-and-now experience of the self-controlled physical perception should be provided. Thirdly, the therapy provides a positive image to replace the negative image that has been stored in the brain. Fourthly, the body of a therapist can be a resting place for a client. As a result, restoring a new memory that is created by body movements is related to the stability of the autonomic nervous, the activation of the midbrain, and the recognition of perceptional mechanism. The most important thing is the body that can be a medium, a methodology, and the appropriateness of the somatic psychotherapy for clients of the psychological trauma.
