This research tried to connect news frames to the process intensifying the symbolic boundariesin Korean dance field. Some theater dance genres are regarded as high arts but othersare not. The hierarchical line drawn between dance genres is presumed that it has beenintensified along with the process of the 1970s' modernization in Korea. The study analysed news frames of dance articles in 《Sunday Seoul》 and 《Dong-AIlbo》 in the 1970s. It observed that the news frames had reflected the social understandingsof dance and the hierarchical attitudes to dance genres.
