A Study on the Decentering of Contemporary Dance from the Perspective of Jacques Derrida’s Deconstructionism

This study aims to discuss about a chaotic condition of contemporary dance on the view of Deconstructionism. By using the key concepts of Derrida’s such as différance, trace, clôture, and écriture, I try to deconstruct the aesthetical meanings and the metaphysical stands dealing with four contemporary dance works. The substance of dance are not located in the presence of movement but in the ephemerality of movement. If dance has a same metaphysical status with écriture, dancing is a way of finding the authentic body from the disciplined/ social body.
Abstract
