초록

본 연구의 목적은 가족커뮤니케이션 패턴이 여가활동으로서의 외모관련 정보추구 행위에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 이러한 관계에 있어 나르시시즘의 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 부모와 자식 간의 커뮤니케이션패턴은 자녀의 발달 및 사회화과정의 근간이 되고, 자녀의 인지와 행동적 특성을 결정짓는 요인이다. 이러한 가족커뮤니케이션 패턴은 국내 청소년의 주요한 여가활동인 뉴미디어 정보추구 행위 및 자기애적 성격 특성인 나르시시즘에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이러한 관계성을 실증적으로 검증하기 위해, 중학생과 고등학생 513명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료를 SPSS 18.0을 사용하여 기술분석, 상관관계분석, 위계적 회귀분석, 그리고 붓스트랩 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 순응지향성 가족커뮤니케이션 패턴은 나르시시즘과 외모관련 정보추구 행위에 유의한 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대화지향성 가족커뮤니케이션 패턴은 나르시시즘과 외모관련 정보추구 행위에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 셋째, 나르시시즘은 외모관련 정보추구 행위에 유의한 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 가족커뮤니케이션 패턴과 외모관련 정보추구행위의 관계에 있어, 나르시시즘은 완전매개효과를 나타냈다. 본 연구는 여가 취약계층인 국내청소년을 대상으로 여가학에서 비교적 미흡하게 다루어온 대인 커뮤니케이션의 영향력과 나르시시즘의 영향력을 실증적으로 살펴본데 의의가 있으며, 이와 관련된 연구가 확장될 수 있는 기초자료로서 가치가 있을 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of family communication patterns on appearance-related information seeking behaviors as leisure activities and to examine the mediating effect of narcissism in that relationship. Communication patterns between parents and children are known to the basis of the child's development and socialization process that determine the child's cognitive and behavioral characteristics. The family communication patterns affect narcissistic personality and new media information seeking behaviors, a major leisure activity of Korean adolescents. To empirically examine this relationship, a questionnaires were administered to 513 middle and high school students, and SPSS 18.0 was used to analyze collected data with descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and bootstrap analysis. The research findings are as follows. First, conformity-orientation family communication pattern had a significant positive effect on narcissism and appearance-related information seeking behaviors. Second, communication-orientation communication pattern did not significantly affect narcissism and appearance-related information seeking behavior. Third, narcissism had a significant positive effect on appearance-related information seeking behaviors. Fourth, in the relationship between family communication patterns and appearance-related information seeking behaviors, narcissism had a full mediating effect. This study is meaningful for empirically examining the influence of interpersonal communication and narcissism on Korean adolescents’ leisure activity, marginalized leisure class in Korea, and future research can be expanded with the findings of this study.
