본 연구는 현대무용 창작 수업에서 대화형 인공지능(ChatGPT) 활용 경험을 탐구하여 교육적 의미와 한계를 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 최근 AI는 무용 분야에서 창작발상, 안무 구상, 무대 연출, 학습 보조 등으로 활용되고 있으나, 실제 수업 맥락에서의 실증 연구는 부족하다. 이에 C 대학교 무용학과 2‧3학년 20명을 대상으로 2024년2학기 10차시 수업을 분석하였으며, 문헌 연구·수업일지·심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 분석 결과, 학생들은 주제 발상, 안무 동작, 음악 및 무대 연출에 AI를 활용하였으며, 다중 아이디어 제시, 효율성, 자료 탐색, 정서적 지지 등 긍정적 효과를 경험하였다. 그러나 예술적 깊이 부족, 동작 제안 한계, 신뢰성 문제, 무대 경험 지원미흡, AI 의존성 등은 주요 제약으로 확인되었다. 이 결과는 AI가 무용창작 교육에서 조력자이자 학습 도구로 활용될 수 있음을 보여주며, 동시에 인간 창작자의 고유성과 교육적 역할을 재정립할 필요성을 시사한다
Abstract
This study explores the experience of using conversational artificial in telligence (ChatGPT) in contemporary dance composition classes, focusing on its educational implications and limitations. While AI has recently been applied in dance for idea generation, choreography, stage design, and learning support, empirical research within actual classroom contexts re mains scarce. To address this gap, this study analyzed ten sessions of a contemporary dance composition course in the fall semester of 2024 at C University, involving 20 sophomore and junior dance majors. Data were collected through literature review, class journals, and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that students utilized AI for theme development, movement generation, and music or stage design, and experienced positive effects such as multiple idea suggestions, efficiency, resource accessibility, and emotional support. However, limitations were also identified, including insufficient artistic depth, restricted movement suggestions, issues of reli ability, lack of support for stage practice, and overreliance on AI. These results suggest that AI can serve as both a creative assistant and an educational tool in dance composition classes, while also highlighting the necessity of redefining the unique role of human creators in dance education.
