헤겔의 예술철학을 통해 본 작법무 -예술(직관)과 종교(표상)의 이행 문제를 중심으로

본 연구는 예술과 종교가 진리를 드러내는 방법 및 그 이행과정에 관한 연구로 헤겔이 예술과 종교에 부여한 ‘직관’과 ‘표상’이라는 특별한 성격을 살펴보고 종교 의식무용인 작법무를 통해 예술과 종교가 진리를 드러내는 방식과 예술과 종교의관계 및 이행의 문제, 이 둘 사이에 위계가 존재하는지를 철학적 관점에서 규명하고자 한다. 헤겔에 의하면 예술이 진리를 형태화하여 직관할 수 있으며, 종교는 이를 주체의내면으로 가져와 깊은 반성적 사유(die Andacht)를 덧붙이는 표상의 형태를 띠며 종교는 예술보다 한 단계 고양된 위치에 있다고 본다. 그러나 불교적 교리의 이해와 구도, 대중의 신앙심 고취라는 목적을 두고 이를 예술로 표현한 작법무는 종교와 예술이 불가분적 관계에 있으며, 보다 근원적 질문이 교차되는 지점에 있다. 즉 속(俗)된것과 성(聖)스러운 것, 물질과 정신, 헤겔의 표현을 빌자면 직관과 표상의 교차점에있음을 확인할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study is a study on how art and religion reveal the truth and the process of its implementation. Based on the special characteristics of 'in tuition' and 'representation' Hegel gave to art and religion, this study aims to investigate from an aesthetic and philosophical point of view the way art and religion reveal the truth, the relationship between art and religion, and whether there is a hierarchy. According to Hegel, art can form truth to intuitively, religion takes the form of a 'representation' that brings it to the inside of the subject and adds deep reflective thought, and religion is in a higher position than art. However, Jakbeopmu, which expresses it as art with the purpose of un derstanding and composition of Buddhist doctrine and promoting the public's faith, is at the point where religion and art are inextricably linked and more fundamental questions intersect. In other words, it can be seen that it is at the intersection of intuition and representation by borrowing Hegelian expressions, which are sacred and vulgar, mental and material.
