본 연구는 한국 창작발레의 역사와 발전 과정을 고찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 향후 한국 발레의 정체성과 국제 경쟁력 강화를 위한 발전 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 발레는 이탈리아에서 기원하여 프랑스에서 예술로 정립되고, 러시아에서 절정을 이루며 세계적으로 확산되었다. 이러한 흐름 속에서 한국 발레는 약 100년이라는 짧은역사에도 불구하고 국제 콩쿠르 수상, 해외 유수 발레단 진출 등 괄목할 만한 성과를이루었다. 최근에는 K-Culture의 확산과 함께 ‘K-Ballet’라는 새로운 흐름이 주목받고 있다. 하지만, 국내 발레단은 여전히 클래식 중심의 레퍼토리에 머무르고 있으며, 한국 고유의 정서와 문화를 반영한 창작발레 콘텐츠 개발은 부족한 실정이다. 본연구는 한국창작발레의 발전사를 분석하고, 한국적 예술 콘텐츠의 가능성과 필요성을 조명함으로써 진정한 의미의 K-Ballet 구축에 기여하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study examined the history of Korean creative ballet in a general way, focusing on representative works and choreographers at each era from the introduction of ballet in Korea to the present. Ballet has been ceaselessly changing and evolving with the times and environment. Ballet was born in Italy and grew considerably when it moved to France and to Russia, then spreading to the world. Thus, ballet has changed with various characteristics according to the environment and characteristics of each country, and in particular, Russia has devel- oped 'Russian ballet' from Western ballet, which is characterized as na- tional ballet. With the mission to make ballet Korea's own ballet art, Korea has also achieved remarkable growth to create Korean creative ballet full of Korean traits and style. True Korean ballet is only possible when it is our own Korean creative ballet. Just as each country has its own national ballet, we should con- tinue to plan, create, and enjoy works with our own sentiments. To do so, we propose to revitalize Korean creative ballet through specialized curricula to train choreographers, expansion of city and provincial ballet companies, and creative reinterpretation of Korea's own materials.
