Abstract

This study was intended to analyze how the field of public diplomacy is being operated in Guatemala, and in particular, the characteristics of the participation methods and roles of the private sector including the Korean immigrant community in Guatemala's public diplomacy. In the case of Guatemala, more public diplomacy activities are carried out by migrants than by government agencies. In this study, it is assumed that the active public diplomacy of the Guatemalan Korean immigrant community is the social and cultural adaptation strategy of Korean immigrants in response to the changing environment of the Guatemalan Korean immigrant society. The results of this study are expected to be helpful in setting the direction of public diplomacy in Latin America as a whole, not just the interpretation of Guatemala's special environment
