초록
The concept of spacetime, which forms a core part of the cosmological worldview in the Mesoamerican civilization, is analyzed through the immanent dualism and the cosmological tetralogy model of the Nahuatl tradition. The knowledge accumulated through years of observation of nature, especially celestial observations centered on the sun, led to the formation of three distinctive calendar systems (Cempohuallapohualli, Tonalpohualli and Xiuhpohualli). This perception of space centered on the four cardinal directions and the unique concept of spacetime convergence using a vigesimal system served as the ideal cognitive model for the Mesoamerican tradition. The constant cycle of immanent dualism and the cosmological tetralogy system formed the prototypical model of Mesoamerican culture. This cultural element common to all of Mesoamerica has found concrete examples in the Postclassic Nahuatl tradition, as well as a wealth of Classical Nahuatl sources.
