Brand name and slogan are key brand elements which influence consumer brand attitude significantly. As such, companies endeavor to build strong brand through developing and utilizing brand name and slogan. But, much research has been done on brand name and slogan in consumer’s first language, there have been relatively few empirical studies on the consumer attitude of brand name and slogan in second language like English. The purpose of this study is to investigate consumer brand attitude of brand name suggestiveness and slogan complexity in terms of English, as well as to assess moderation effects of English proficiency and product knowledge between them. The survey methodology, based on between-subjects and within-subjects experimental design, was used to conduct this research. The data were compiled and analysed using t-test and ANOVA, etc. in SPSS 20.0 program. The results of the study reveal that there were significant differences in brand attitude on English brand name suggestiveness. Brand attitude was more positive in high English brand name suggestiveness group than low one. Secondly, English slogan complexity have different influences on brand attitude among the slogan complexity groups significantly. Brand attitude were more positive to moderate slogan complexity group as compared to the low and high ones. And low slogan complexity group showed more positive brand attitude than high one. Thirdly, English proficiency and product knowledge have moderation effects between English brand name suggestiveness and brand attitude. Fourthly, there was no significant difference in brand attitude between English slogan complexity and English proficiency/product knowledge. So, English proficiency and product knowledge doesn’t have moderation effect between English slogan complexity and brand attitude. Finally, theoretical and managerial implications of English brand name suggestiveness, English slogan complexity, and related variables based on this study results are discussed.
