Abstract

Recently customers' epistemic need and emotional need tend to get higher. One thing that can satisfy such customers' need is art. Art could be a product which requires both human cognitive ability and emotional ability. Because art works are products which reflect the current times and integrate creativity. Art collaboration products, which are produced through the collaboration between art and commercial products have a meaning beyond the products. Currently many corporations introduce art collaboration products through the collaboration between companies and artists. Art collaboration was done mainly with high-priced products in the early days, however recently it is mostly done with daily necessities and low-priced products. This way, active collaboration with art in various industry means that customers perceive the value of art collaboration products. Art collaboration products have creativity which has more creative element than general products, since they have collaboration with art, and emphasize aesthetics. Also, different from general products, they are assigned with symbolic characteristics, and since they are sold limitedly, they have scarcity. Therefore, Originality, Aesthetics, Symbolic, Scarcity could be the characteristics of art collaboration products. We investigated the effect of the characteristics of art collaboration products on customers' perceived value and product purchasing intention by dividing perceived value into four dimensions(i.e. emotional value, social value, financial value, and epistemic value). 255 questionnaires were used as the data of this research targeting the people in their 20s~30s, and were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 and LISEREL 8.7. As the analysis result, originality, Aesthetics, symbolic, and scarcity, which are the characteristics of art collaboration, significantly affect both emotional value and epistemic value. However, with regard to financial value, only symbolic had significantly affect, while originality, aesthetics and scarcity don’t affect significantly. And with regard to social value, only aesthetics and symbolic affect significantly, while originality and scarcity don’t affect significantly. Customers' perceived value(e.g. emotional value, financial value, social value, and epistemic value) all appeared to have significantly effect on art collaboration products purchasing intention. This research has implication that symbolic among the characteristics of art collaboration products affect all perceived value, so that it displays that customers perceive art collaboration products as high-quality products which have artistry compared to other products of the same item, and possessing art collaboration products symbolizes that the customers have affluent and discernment to purchase this product. And in the situation that product’s difference gets difficult, this research shows that it is desirable to introduce new products which can satisfy customers' demand through continuous art collaboration.
