Abstract
This paper deals with changes in the community and the poverty problems due to the globalization at the theoretical level. It examines effects of the globalization on the quality of life, defines the significance of the community, and then suggests the concepts of ‘social exclusion’ and ‘self-support’ as new dimensions of the poverty problems. The effects of the globalization on the quality of life tend to focus the roles of local communities which could lead the strategies for overcoming both the unemployment and the poverty. Moreover, to develop the local community needs the strengthening of the self-autonomy beyond the diffusion of the central power to the local level. Finally, on the base of the concept of ‘social exclusion’, this paper divides three conceptual levels of ‘self-support’ as ‘self-sufficiency’, ‘self-help’, ‘self-governance’.
