초록
이 논문은 ‘만약(If)~라면, (then) ...
Abstract
In philosophy, to give a truth value to conditionals which have the form "If A then B" in ordinary English, and to understand a logical structure of conditionals are traditional problems. This paper, from those problems of indicative conditionals, brings its additional information which does not appear in its truth-condition in focus. In general indicative conditionals express something epistemic different from subjunctive. So I try to explain the epistemic respect of indicatives, and give epistemic constraint for appropriate indicatives without intervening the problem about what is truth condition of indicatives. As a first step, I review several approaches for explanation of a paradox of material implication. And then I show what the epistemic content of appropriate indicatives has. As a last step, I suggest a formula of the epistemic condition for acceptability of indicative. It will illuminate our intuition of appropriate usage of indicatives, and will be the neutral constraint that is needed to understand an epistemic respect of indicatives.
