Abstract
This study aims to explore research studies on learning environment and learning spaces, and to offer practical guidelines and implications for restructuring elementary school classrooms. A total of 104 articles published between 2019 and 2024 in the Korea Citation Index(KCI) were collected and reviewed. The selected articles were analyzed based on the Pedagogy-Space-Technology(PST) model proposed by Radcliffe, and specific classification criteria were developed for each domain of the PST model to ensure the objectivity of the analysis. The findings of this study yield several implications. First, in designing future leaning space, it is essential to integrate curriculum and technology elements, with a particular emphasis on teaching and learning design. Second, flexibility and technology integration emerged as key factors in creating effective future learning environments. Third, to transform elementary classrooms, it is essential to create spaces that foster diversity and creativity, support digital education, and balance learning with rest and play. Fourth, user-centered design approaches that reflect the experiences and perspectives of both teachers and students are critical to ensuring the effective implementation of learning space design. This study is significant in that it systematically analyzes the spatial characteristics and design principles required for flexible learning environments aligned with the goals of future education, particularly at a time when interest in building future-ready schools and creating advanced learning environments is growing in response to paradigm shift in education.
