Abstract
This study examines the ethical implications of using Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in music and visual arts education and proposes practical strategies for educational practice. To this end, a Systematic Review (SR) was conducted of 88 domestic academic papers published between 2022 and the first half of 2025, following the introduction of the 2022 Revised National Curriculum. The reviewed literature includes studies on the characteristics of AI-based creative technologies and tools, normative discussions on copyright and expressive ethics, empirical research on the educational effects of AI tools, explorations of pedagogical directions for AI integration in music and art education, and analyses of research trends. Collectively, these studies extend beyond isolated cases of technology use and provide important insights into how generative AI intersects with the fundamental aims of arts education under the new curriculum paradigm. The analysis reveals that existing research has primarily emphasized the educational effectiveness of AI tools and instructional design, while systematic inquiry into ethical concerns and the provision of practical guidelines remain limited. In response, this study categorizes four major ethical issues and develops two discipline-specific “Ethical Checklists”—one for music education and one for visual arts education—to support teachers’ ethical judgment and classroom decision-making. The findings aim to provide both theoretical and practical foundations for incorporating generative AI in ways that not only adopt the technology but align it with the intrinsic goals and values of arts education.
