An analysis of public discourse on the adoption of AI digital textbooks: Focusing on academic papers and news articles

본 연구는 학술 논문과 뉴스 기사와 같은 사회적 담론에 나타난 AI 디지털 교과서 도입에 대한 정서와 개선 요구사항 및 방향성을 분석하여 AI 디지털 교과서가 나아가야 할 앞으로의 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. AI 디지털 교과서에 대한 학술 논문과 뉴스 기사 분석을 위해 Python을 활용하여 텍스트마이닝과 토픽모델링을 활용하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 학술 논문과 뉴스 기사에서의 AI 디지털 교과서 도입에 대한 정서에는 차이가 나타났다. 그 정서에 따른 근거는 긍정적인 정서에는 개인맞춤형 학습이 가능할 것이라는 것과 시뮬레이션 실험에 대한 가능성 그리고 학습분석을 통한 학습저조 학생의 신속한 발견과 그에 알맞은 처치가 가능할 것이라는 기대에 따른 것이었다. 부정적인 정서에 따른 근거는 학생의 인권 침해에 대한 부분과 교육의 본질을 해칠 수도 있다는 것 그리고 현재의 AI 디지털 교과서에 대한 기술이나 기능 구현 부족에 대한 우려에 따른 것이었다. 또한, 학술 논문과 뉴스 기사에 나타난 개선 요구사항과 향후 방향성에 대해서는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 첫째, 교사, 학생, 학부모의 의견을 모두 반영한 AI 디지털 교과서 도입이다. 둘째, 교사 역량 강화나 연수를 통해AI 디지털 교과서의 긍정적인 효과가 나타날 수 있도록 해야 한다. 셋째, 정치 등과 무관하게 일관된정책과 제도가 필요하다. 넷째, 실제 수업 현장에서 필요한 기능이나 기술 등이 포함되어야 하고, 점진적으로 보완되어야 한다. 이를 바탕으로 AI 디지털 교과서 관련 내용, 정책, 제도 등이 기대하는 긍정적인 효과를 나타낼 수 있도록 보완되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study aimed to explore future directions for the development of AI digital textbooks by analyzing public sentiment and suggestions for improvement found in social discourses such as academic papers and news articles. The findings are as follows. First, there were differences in sentiment regarding the adoption of AI digital textbooks between academic literature and news articles. Positive sentiment was grounded in expectations such as the potential for personalized learning, the use of simulations, and the early identification and appropriate intervention for underperforming students through learning analytics. On the other hand, negative sentiment was based on concerns related to the potential infringement of student rights, the possible undermining of the fundamental purpose of education, and the current limitations in technology and functionality of AI digital textbooks. In addition, the analysis revealed common suggestions for improvement and future directions in both academic papers and news articles. First, the implementation of AI digital textbooks should reflect the perspectives of all stakeholders. Second, enhancing teachers’ instructional capacity and providing sufficient training are essential to ensure the positive impact of AI digital textbooks. Third, consistent policies and systems, free from political influences, are necessary. Fourth, AI digital textbooks should incorporate functionalities and technologies needed in actual classrooms and be incrementally improved over time.
