Abstract

[Purpose] This study aims to provide insights by empirically examining the impact of consumers' religiosity on food consumption, health consciousness, and brand attachment from a marketing perspective, addressing the lack of studies on the behavior of religious consumers. [Methodology] The study derived five hypotheses through a theoretical review related to religiosity, specific food consumption, and health consciousness. To test these hypotheses, data was collected through an online survey targeting consumers with religious affiliations. The reliability and validity of the collected data were reviewed, and the hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. [Findings] The results revealed that religiosity positively influences the consumption of specific foods (diet foods, organic foods) and health consciousness, and that health consciousness positively influences brand attachment. However, the relationship between the consumption of specific foods (diet foods) and brand attachment was found to be insignificant. [Implications] Domestic research on religiosity and consumer behavior has been very limited thus far. This study examines the structural relationships between religiosity, specific food consumption, health consciousness, and brand attachment. The results of the study are expected to provide theoretical and practical implications as a pioneering study on religiosity.
