본 연구는 영어 교사 훈련을 받은 국내 사범대학 학부생과 교육대학원생을 대상으로 중등 영어 AI 디지털 교과서(AIDT) 의 주요 기능에 대한 요구와 언어 기능 발달에 미치는 도움 정도에 대한 인식을 조사·분석하였다. 자료 수집은 133명을대상으로 한 설문조사를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 분석 결과, 설문 참여자들은 영역별 학습 역량 확인, 오답 노트 작성, 교사가 선택한 맞춤형 콘텐츠 제공, 학습 계획 정보 제공 등 평가와 맞춤형 콘텐츠 제공과 관련된 기능들을 AIDT의주요 필수 요소로 응답하였다. 개인차 변인 분석 결과, AIDT의 필요성과 사용 의도가 높은 집단은 낮은 집단에 비해AIDT의 여러 기능에 대한 요구가 높았으며, AIDT가 언어 세부 능력 발달에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 긍정적인 인식을나타냈다. 설문지 질적 응답 분석 결과, AIDT 도입 및 교실 활용을 위한 실질적 연수 프로그램의 필요성과 교사역할 축소 및 학생의 디지털 기기 중독에 대한 우려가 드러났다. 이러한 결과는 중등 영어 예비 교사 개인차에 따라AIDT에 대한 기대가 다를 수 있음을 보여주며, 개별 예비 교사의 요구와 인식을 반영한 맞춤형 교사 훈련 프로그램의필요성을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study investigates and analyzes the perceptions and needs of undergraduate and graduate students in teacher education programs in South Korea regarding the key features of Secondary English AI Digital Textbooks (AIDT) and their impact on language skill development. Data were collected through a survey of 133 participants. The analysis revealed that participants identified functions related to assessment and personalized content provision,- such as checking learning competencies by skill, creating error logs, providing teacher-selected personalized content, and delivering study plan information -as essential features of AIDT. The analysis of individual difference variables indicated that participants with a higher perceived necessity and intention to use AIDT had greater demands for its features and expressed more positive perceptions of its impact on the development of specific language skills. Qualitative responses to open-ended survey items highlighted the need for practical training programs for the implementation and classroom use of AIDT, alongside concerns about reduced teacher roles and potential student addiction to digital devices. These findings suggest that pre-service secondary English teachers’ expectations of AIDT may vary based on individual differences, emphasizing the importance of developing customized teacher-training programs that reflect the specific needs and perceptions of each teacher candidate.
