세계시민사회 위기 극복의 자양분이 될 세계시민교육의 근본적 가치와 원리를 탐색할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는Nussbaum의 세계시민주의, 토대역량 접근법, 인문교양교육론에 드러난 세계시민교육론을 탐색하고, 이것이 시사하고있는 세계시민교육 원리를 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 문제는 첫째, Nussbaum의 세계시민교육론의 핵심내용은 무엇인가, 둘째, Nussbaum의 세계시민교육론에 입각한 세계시민교육의 원리는 무엇인가이다. 연구방법은Nussbaum의 세계시민주의, 토대역량 접근법, 인문교양교육론 각각 관련 1차 저작물들에 관한 문헌 연구를 통해 Nussbaum의 세계시민교육론을 종합하고, 이를 바탕으로 세계시민교육의 원리를 도출하였다. 연구 결과, Nussbaum의 세계시민교육론에 입각한 세계시민교육 원리는 ‘토대역량 접근의 원리’, ‘문화 다양성의 원리’, ‘전체성과 간학문적 통합성의 원리’, ‘인문학적 서사성과 맥락성의 원리’, ‘대화와 성찰의 원리’, ‘변혁적 실천의 원리’로 6개가 도출되었다. 이러한 연구결과가 세계시민교육에 대한 깊은 이해를 바탕으로 더욱더 실질적이고 변혁적인 세계시민교육의 설계와 실행을위한 토대가 되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
The fundamental values and principles of global citizenship education will serve as the catalyst for overcoming the crisis of global civil society, and therefore, must be examined. Therefore, this study explores the global citizenship education theory revealed in Martha Nussbaum's global citizenship, capabilities approach, and liberal arts education theory, and derives the principles of global citizenship education that it advocates. The research questions are, first, what is the core content of Nussbaum's global citizenship education theory, and second, what are the principles of global citizenship education according to Nussbaum's global citizenship education theory. The research method involved synthesizing Nussbaum's global citizenship education theory through a literature review of Nussbaum's primary works related to global citizenship, capabilities approach, and liberal arts education theory, and deriving the principles of global citizenship education based on this. Six principles of global citizenship education based on Nussbaum’s theory of global citizenship education were derived: ‘principle of the foundational competency approach’, ‘principle of cultural diversity’, ‘principle of holism and interdisciplinary integration’, ‘principle of humanistic narrative and contextuality’, ‘principle of dialogue and reflection’, and ‘principle of transformative practice’. It is anticipated that these research results will serve as a foundation for designing and implementing more practical and transformative global citizenship education based on a deeper understanding of global citizenship education.
