Abstract
This study explores the process of group counseling utilizing the ‘Breaking Out’ method by analyzing the counseling experiences of group facilitators and integrating the counseling experiences of voluntary and involuntary participants. For this purpose, five group facilitators were selected through purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using the grounded theory approach proposed by Strauss and Corbin (1998). The analysis yielded 150 concepts, 53 subcategories, and 20 categories, with the core phenomena identified as "gradual approaches to secure spontaneity" and "precise coordination to maintain spontaneity." The key category, integrating the group counseling experiences of voluntary and involuntary participants as identified in this study and by Jang Young-ah and Kwon Kyung-in (2024), was defined as "the facilitator’s gradual and precise coordination process based on participants’ willingness to solve problems." Based on these results, this study presents theoretical and practical insights derived from the experiential application of the Breaking Out method.
