한국 집단상담 대가의 특성 분석

초록

본 연구는 집단상담 대가의 인간적 특성과 전문적 특성, 발달과정의 촉진 요인 및 제한요인을 탐색하고 이해하는데 목표가 있다. 본 연구에서는 눈덩이 표집-동료지명 방법을 사용하여 국내 집단상담 전문가들에게 그들이 생각하는 최고의 집단상담자를 추천하게 하였다. 한번이라도 거명된 총 27명의 집단상담 전문가 중 지명 빈도가 높고, 집단상담자로서의 분명한 정체성을 자타에 의해 인정받는 최상위 5명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 이들을 대상으로 3차에 걸친 개별면담을 실시하고 면담자료를 근거이론 접근방법(Strauss & Corbin, 1998)으로 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과를 요약하면, 개방코딩 과정을 거쳐 면담자료를 범주화한 결과 65개 개념, 28개 하위범주, 13개 범주가 도출되었다. 근거이론의 패러다임에 의거하여 앞서 도출한 범주들 간의 관련성을 분석한 결과를 집단상담 대가의 9가지 특성을 정리하였다. 9가지 특성은 집단상담 선택 배경, 집단상담에 몰입, 멘토, 좌절과 그에 대한 대처, 개인적 삶의 고통, 결핍, 불안의 기여, 탁월한 전문성 획득에 기여한 상황, 성장을 위한 전략, 인간적 특성, 전문적 특성 등이다. 주요어 : 집단상담, 상담자 발달, 상담자 요인, 대가, 전문성, 근거이론, 패러다임 모형

Abstract

This study has a purpose to explore and understand Korean master group counselors’ personal, professional characteristics, and factors to facilitate and hinder the developmental process. Through peer-nomination and snowball sampling, group counseling experts were asked to recommend the best group counselor in Korea. Among 27 group counselors with at least one nomination only five were selected as the study participants, who were recommended most frequently and had agreed recognition of their identity as a group counselor. The participants were interviewed three times. The interview data was analyzed based on the ground theory approach (Strauss & Corbin, 1998). The major results of the analysis are summarized as sixty five concepts, twenty eight sub-categories and thirteen categories. The interview data was categorized through open-coding process. Analyzing the relationship among the categories based on the ground theory paradigm revealed the nine main themes regarding master group counselors’ characteristics. The nine main themes include reasons to choose group counseling, flow in group counseling, mentors, frustration and coping, contribution of personal life with suffering, deficiency, anxiety, contributing conditions and strategies to gaining excellent expertise, personal characteristics and professional characteristics.
