지역사회와 연계된 특수학교 설립 방안에 관한 교사와 학부모의 인식 및 요구에 대한 질적 연구

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions and needs of teachers and parents regarding the establishment of special schools connected with the local community. To achieve this, a focus group interview was conducted with a total of 15 general education teachers, special education teachers, parents of typically developing students, and parents of students with disabilities from various schools(kindergarten, elementary, middle, high, and special schools) in A City. The results of the analysis of the core topics and subthemes derived from the focus group interviews revealed both active support and skeptical opposition regarding the establishment of special schools. There were also mixed expectations and concerns about the impact of special schools on the local community. As contributions of special schools to the local community, suggestions were made regarding physical space, educational content, and opportunities for participation in social integration activities. Furthermore, it was emphasized that communication should focus on promoting the benefits and stressing the necessity of special schools. Regarding the physical space of special schools, the study highlighted the use of technology and devices to prepare for future environments, the promotion of psychological, emotional, and physical development of learners, and ways to enhance the educational effectiveness of teachers. Based on these findings, this study discusses implications for establishing special schools that are connected with the local community and meet the needs of students with disabilities, while also suggesting limitations and recommendations for future research.
