본 연구는 IB PYP의 주도성을 포함하여 학습자 주도성의 개념과 구성 요인을 규명하고 이를 측정하는 데 적합한모형을 밝혀 학습자 주도성을 측정하는 타당하고 신뢰할 수 있는 도구를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 목적을달성하기 위하여 학습자 주도성의 개념과 구성 요인이 무엇인지, 그리고 학습자 주도성을 측정할 수 있는 문항은어떻게 구성될 수 있을지에 대한 연구 문제를 세웠다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 우선 IB PYP의 자료를 포함한 학습자주도성에 관한 문헌을 고찰하였다. 그 결과 자신에 대한 신념을 바탕으로 타인과 협력하며 주체적이고 능동적인학습을 진행하는 능력으로 학습자 주도성을 개념화하였고, 이를 구성하고 있는 요인으로 목표 설정, 의지적 선택, 자기인식, 자기조절, 상호작용, 그리고 협상을 도출하였다. 이후 다양한 맥락의 연구들을 통합적으로 탐색하여 요인별문항을 수집하였다. IB PYP에서 주도성을 구성하는 핵심 요소로 제시하는 선택, 주인의식, 의견 영역 아래에 상술한요인들을 연결 짓고 문항을 구성한 후 2차의 전문가 의견 조사를 실시한 내용타당도 검증과 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적요인분석을 통한 구인타당도 검증 등의 단계를 거쳐 검사 타당화하였다. 최종적으로 학습자 주도성 검사 도구는3개 영역, 6개 요인, 34개의 문항으로 확정하였다. 본 연구는 탐구기반 수업이라는 실질적인 방안을 통해 학습자주도성을 길러나가고 있는 IB PYP 학생들을 대상으로 한 조사를 바탕으로 학습자 주도성을 측정할 수 있는 도구를개발했다는 점에서 의미가 있으며, 개발된 도구는 향후 다양한 교육환경에서 학습자 주도성을 평가하고 촉진하는데 효과적인 수단으로 작용할 것을 기대한다.
Abstract
This study aimed to define the concept of learner agency, identify its core components, and develop a reliable and valid instrument for its measurement. To achieve this, the research addressed two central questions: (1)What constitutes a Learner Agency and its essential components? (2) How can effective scales be designed to measure it? A comprehensive literature review was conducted, including sources from the IB PYP framework. Learner Agency was conceptualized as the capacity for self-directed, proactive, and interactive learning underpinned by self-belief and collaboration. Six key components were identified: goal-setting, intentional decision-making, self-awareness, self-regulation, interaction, and negotiation. Measurement items were developed based on these components and categorized under three domains outlined in the IB PYP framework: choice, ownership, and voice. Content validity was ensured through two rounds of expert review, while construct validity was established via exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The final Learner Agency Measurement Instrument comprises three domains, six factors, and 34 items. This study is significant in that it presents a measurement tool grounded in the lived experiences of IB PYP students engaged in inquiry-based learning. The resulting instrument offers educators and researchers a practical framework for evaluating and promoting learner agency across diverse educational settings.
