고등학교 ‘윤리와 사상’의 교육 과정에 대한 비판적 고찰 : 2009 개정 교육과정 중 ‘한국의 윤리 사상’을 중심으로

‘윤리와 사상’은 동·서양의 주요 윤리 사상과 사회 사상에 대한 체계적인 학습을 통해 윤리적 사고의 기반을 형성하고, 현재의 삶에서 바람직한 윤리관을 정립하고자 설정된 교과목이다. 한국인으로서의 주체적인 윤리관과 사상적 틀을 형성하는 것이 목적으로 제시된 만큼, ‘윤리와 사상’에서 한국의 윤리 사상이 차지하는 비중과 역할은 적지 않다고 하겠다. 이에 따라 본고에서는 2012학년도부터 고등학교 교육 현장에 적용될 ‘윤리와 사상’의 교육과정 중 ‘한국의 윤리 사상’을 중심으로 교육과정의 내용 체계와 영역별 내용을 비판적으로 검토하였다. 내용 체계와 요소에 대한 검토에서는 한국의 윤리 사상에만 국한하지 않고, 전체 체계 가운데 동양의 윤리 사상과 결부하여 한국의 윤리 사상이 차지하는 위상과 내용 요소를 고찰하였으며, 유교·불교·도가 및 도교·고유사상 등 영역별로 제시된 동양의 윤리 사상 가운데에서 한국의 윤리 사상에 해당하는 내용 요소의 범위 및 적합성 등을 검토하였다.
Abstract
‘Ethics and Thought’ is the course for establishing proper ethical views on current life as well as forming ethical ways of thinking by systematically studying main social and ethical thoughts of the East and West. Due to the purpose of building up the ethical view with Korean identity, especially, it is no wonder that the part of Korean ethical thought should play a significant role in the course of ‘Ethics and Thought’. In this paper, I shall critically examine the structure of the curriculum and the contents of each specialized part by focusing on ‘Korean ethical thought’ in the curriculum of ‘Ethics and Thought’, which will be applied to high schools since 2012. On the structure and requisites for the contents, first, I shall investigate the status of Korean ethical thought in the midst of East Asian thought with overall considerations for the big picture, but not highlight on Korean ethical thought. Second, I shall review the scope and suitability of the contents being applicable to Korean ethical thought among the specialized parts like Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism and indigenous religions.
