도덕 교과의 성격과 목표를 규정하는 일은 도덕과 교육과정을 구성하는 데 있어서 가장 중요한 과제이다. 왜냐하면 그것이 도덕 교과의 정체성과 직결되어 있기 때문이다. 도덕 교과의 성격과 목표에 대한 기술은 동 교육과정의 역사적 측면에서 볼 때, 교과의 위상과 연계되어 매우 독창적인 형태로서 꾸준히 발전하고 정제되어왔다. 도덕의 보편성과 특수성, 도덕 교과의 학제적 접근, 동 교과의 범위 등은 근래에 도덕 교과의 성격과 목표를 설정함에 있어서 주요 쟁점으로 자리매김하였다. 도덕 교과의 성격과 목표는 그 이론적 기초를 동 교과의 본질과 관련하여 선(공동선) 이론, 공동체 이론, 사회화 및 발달 이론에 둘 수 있다.
Abstract
Defining the nature and objective of Moral Studies is the most important work in constructing the curriculum of the Studies, since it is directly connected with the identity of Moral Studies. The description of the nature and objective of Moral Studies in its historical context is realized as reflecting the phase of the subject, as a highly creative pattern, as being developed and refined. Recently the universality or particularity of morals, the interdisciplinary approach of Moral Studies, the scope of Moral Studies have been discussed as issues in defining the nature and objective of Moral Studies. Referring to the essence of moral studies education, the nature and objective of Moral Studies can lay its theoretical basis on theories of good(common good), community, and socialization or development.
