하버마스와 롤스의 심의민주주의 연구

최근 민주 시민성과 관련해서 도덕과가 가장 주목한 주제는 심의민주주의라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 하지만 심의민주주의를 대표하는 두 학자인 하버마스와 롤스의 이론은 상대적으로 자세히 조명되지 못했다. 본 논문은 두 학자의 이론에 대한 체계적이면서도 면밀한 검토를 통해 그동안 기존의 연구를 통해 강조된 점뿐만 아니라 매우 중요함에도 불구하고 거의 알려지지 않은 사실들에 주목하였다. 하버마스는 사회화의 본질은 윤리라는 담론윤리학의 명제를 바탕으로 언어학, 사회학, 윤리학, 정치학을 넘나들면서 거대한 이론을 완성시켰다. 롤스는 합당한 다원주의의 아이디어를 바탕으로 정의와 민주주의를 연결시키면서 정치적 자유주의를 완성시켰다. 같으면서도 같지 않은 하버마스와 롤스의 심의민주주의 이론에 대한 본 논문의 분석을 통해 한국의 민주주의와 민주 시민 교육에 대한 심의를 한 수준 끌어올려 갈등 극복을 위한 소통과 사회통합을 달성하는 데 일조할 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
It is no exaggeration to say that deliberative democracy is the topic that moral subject education has recently paid the most attention to in relation to democratic citizenship. However, the theories of Habermas and Rawls, two scholars representing deliberative democracy, have not been illuminated in detail. Through a systematic and thorough examination of the theories of the two scholars, this thesis paid attention not only to the points emphasized through previous studies, but also to the facts that are very important but little known. Based on the proposition of discourse ethics that the basis of socialization is ethics, Habermas completed a grand theory by crossing linguistics, sociology, ethics, and politics. Rawls completed political liberalism by linking justice and democracy based on the idea of reasonable pluralism. Through the analysis of this dissertation on the theories of deliberative democracy of Habermas and Rawls, who are the same but not the same, I hope to contribute to achieving communication and social integration to overcome conflict by raising the level of deliberation on democracy and democratic citizenship education in Korea.
