인간과 기술에 대한 문학적 고찰: 플라토노프 작품을 중심으로

현재 과학기술은 인간의 생활을 지배하며 점점 더 빠른 속도로 발전한다. 인간과 기술이 일상생활 차원에서 점차 융합되면서 과학기술의 발전을 무조건 배척하거나 발전 속도를 인위적으로 늦추기는 불가능해졌다. 이런 현실에서 인간으로 살아남기 위해 인간과 기술의 관계를 재조명하고 인간성에 대해 재고할 필요가 있다. 이에 대해 안드레이 플라토노프는 기술자이자 공학자로서, 또 인간에 대해 성찰하는 문학자로서의 관점을 동시에 보여준다. 사물에 나타난 인간적 특성에 애정을 느끼고, 기계에서 그것을 제작한 인간의 모습을 재발견하는 것이 플라토노프식 인본주의다. 과학기술을 발달시키는 주체 역시 인간이며 그 목적은 궁극적으로 인간을 위한 것이라는 플라토노프의 통찰에서 인간성과 인간 자체의 생존을 위한 근본적인 대안의 실마리를 찾을수 있다.
Abstract
In the modern world, scientific knowledge and technology develop exponentially while ruling our everyday lives. Technological advances seem to have penetrated into our very existence, making it impossible to control the speed at which modern technology develops or even keep an apparently safe distance from it. It is imperative for our very survival in this world to re-consider the relation between human beings and technology and thereby re-consider what it means to exist as a human being. That is why we need to turn to Andrei Platonov and re-examine his viewpoints on machines and technological advances. Platonov himself had been an engineer by training and profession. His insight on machines, technology, and their relation with us humans comes from knowledge and first-hand experience. Platonov’s main point is that technology and machinery exist for human convenience and comfort. The ones who have created the technological advances in the first place are humans, so according to Platonov, one should not forget the man behind the machine. Also Platonov acknowledges anthropomorphism, the tendency to find human attributes in non-human beings or objects, as a human attribute in and of itself. Such characteristically Platonovian humanism will shed light on why our relation to technology and machinery is what it is now and how it should develop in the future
