2004년 5월 슬로베니아를 포함한 10개국이 새로이 EU의 회원국으로 가입함으로써, EU는 기존 15개 회원국에서 25개 회원국으로 크게 확대되었고, 더불어 거대한 경제, 정치 단일 공동체로서의 새로운 시험무대에 나서게 되었다.본 논문에서 연구자는 EU의 중동부유럽 확대라는 관점에서 그 대상 국가중 하나인 슬로베니아를 사례로 들어 그 경제적 특징과 현황 그리고 EU에 가입하기까지의 과정과 그 파급효과에 대해 설명하고자 한다. 또한 이를 기초로 한국 기업들의 슬로베니아 진출 현황과 향후 전망을 제시하고자 한다. 기존 국내 연구들이 ‘중동부유럽의 EU가입’이라는 큰 틀 속에서 슬로베니아의 일정 부분만 소개해 왔다는 점에 비추어 보았을 때, 이러한 작업은 그동안 미진했던 슬로베니아에 대한 연구를 보안한다는 측면에서 그 의미를 찾을 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Slovenia is a small and new state which is located on north of the Balkan peninsula. Slovenia, after that became independent from the Socialist Federation of Yugoslavia in June 1991, tried to develope economy and democracy. So that, Slovenia now waiting to become a new member of ‘New Europe(European Union)’ which start in May 2004. In this paper, I analyze about understanding and meaning by which Slovenia transformed to member of European Union(EU). Of course, the prime aim of this paper is, to explain the processes which Slovenia become a member of EU, and to examine the Slovenia's present economic situation and merits. With this aim, I supply some information about how korean business expand a market in Slovenia. In Chapter II, I search how European Union developed from 1950s., and what's meaning and background of the EU's expansion to Central and Eastern Europe. In Chapter III, I analyze how Slovenia's economy developed after that came from being part of a federal communist state(Old Yugoslavia). And also, I explain Slovenia's present economic situation and merits. In Chapter IV, I will analyze process that Slovenia become a member of European Union, and that's extending effect. In Chapter V, I study korean business' a present situation in Slovenia, and the future prospect after that Slovenia participate in European Union's economic bloc. Finally, I will summarize Slovenia's economic value to us(Korea), and meaning which Slovenia become a member of European Union.
