Abstract
This research examines the effect of regulation on the economic performances using the total production function(TPF) model and the growth accounting model in the context of 31 OECD countries. Over the 1996-2012 periods we categorized 31 countries into Group A(17 countries with better regulatory framework) above the annual average of the quality of regulation index across the 31 countries) and Group B(14 countries with worse regulatory above annual average across the 31 countries). Our findings are as follows. First, the regulation acts as a better factor in TPF in Group A compared to in the group B. Second, the regulation is a major factor in economic growth in Group A compared to in Group B. In conclusion, the better quality of regulation goes, the higher the economic growth goes.
