Abstract
The clash of Russia-led EEU(Eurasian Economic Union) and EU representsgeo-economic competition and geo-political rivalry between regional integrationblocks, and, at the same time, at the bottom of that exists identity confrontationas the root cause. The driving forces of identity confrontation are as follows:Firstly, structural transformation of world politics in the largest category; secondly,Kremlin’s choice of non-European identity, independent development strategy onits own way, and project(EAU) of diffusing Russia’s own development model. Ideological bases of Russia’s non-European identity are ‘sovereign democracy’and ‘conservative international’. As far as Putinism survives, the front line ofidentity confrontation between EU and EEU is likely to last for a considerable period.
