들뢰즈 철학에서 기호의 폭력에 따른 배움의 발생

본 연구는 『차이와 반복』에서 들뢰즈가 다룬 사유의 이미지론과 『프루스트와 기호들』에서의 프루스트론 분석을 통해 ‘기호’와 ‘배움’의 관계를 ‘폭력’이라는 관점에서 조명한다. 들뢰즈가 『프루스트와 기호들』에서 다루고 있는 프루스트의 작품인 『잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』는 주인공인 마르셀이 여러 가지 경험을 통해 배움을 얻으면서 작가가 되는 과정을 담고 있다. 그것을 들뢰즈는 자신의 프루스트론에서 기호와 배움이라는 형태로 해석한다. 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있는 기호와 배움은 함께 사유의 발생적 이미지를 형성하며 전통적인 사유의 독단적 이미지에 대항한다. 사유의 독단적 이미지 안에서 배움은 앎에 종속된 형태로 나타나지만, 들뢰즈에 따르면 배움은 주체가 기호와 우연히 마주쳐서 진리를 찾도록 사유가 강제되는 사태를 통해서 발생한다. 기호와의 우연한 마주침은 모든 인식능력들에게 차례로 어떤 폭력을 가져다주며 그 폭력은 인식능력들로 하여금 자신의 한계를 넘어서도록 함으로써 인식능력들을 초월적 실행으로 끌어올린다. 이러한 인식능력들의 부조화의 조화 속에서 주체는 기호가 함축하고 있는 이념 안의 차이 자체를 탐험하게 되며 비로소 어떤 배움이 생겨난다. 들뢰즈는 『잃어버린 시간을 찾아서』에서 마르셀이 경험하는 기호들을 모두 네 가지 유형으로 구별한다. 물질적 기호들인 사교계의 기호, 사랑의 기호, 감각적 기호는 모두 본질, 즉 차이 자체를 불완전하게 드러내며, 절대적이고 궁극적인 기호로서 정신적인 예술의 기호만이 본질을 온전히 계시함으로써 우리에게 진정한 의미에서의 배움을 선사한다.
Abstract
This study illuminates the relation between 'sign' and 'apprenticeship' in respect of 'violence' through the analysis of Deleuze's theory of 'the image of thought' in Difference and Repetition and theory of Proust in Proust and Signs. Proust's work In Search of Lost Time which Deleuze covers in Proust and Signs includes the contents of the process that the main character named Marcel becomes a writer with apprenticeship through various experiences. Deleuze interprets it into his way using sign and apprenticeship in his theory of Proust. Sign and apprenticeship which interrelate closely form the genetic image of thought and stand against the traditional dogmatic image of thought together. Apprenticeship appears as a thing that is subordinate to knowledge in the dogmatic image of thought, but according to Deleuze, it is generated by the situation that a subject encounters signs accidently and his thought is forced to seek the truth. An accident encounter with signs sends the violence to every faculties in order, and the violence attracts transcendent exercise from faculties by transcending their own limits. In this discordant harmony between the faculties, the subject can explore differences in itself in Ideas in which signs imply, and then apprenticeship generates. Deleuze divides signs which Marcel experiences in In Search of Lost Time into four types. The worldly signs, the signs of love, and the sensuous signs which are the material signs expose the essence that is to say difference in itself incompletely, and the absolute and ultimate signs of art which are the spiritual can present us the true apprenticeship by revealing the essence entirely.
