Abstract

The purpose of this study is to validate job embeddedness scale, which measures why people stay in their organizations, in Korea. Items were chosen through reviews of previous studies and discussions with authors of job embeddedness scale. The process of translation—back-translation was taken to produce items in Korean and two separate surveys were conducted on 229 Korean employees. The result from exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis supported 2 high rank factors and 5 subfactors. Convergent validity and discriminant validity were examined by correlation analysis between job embeddedness and variables related to turnover. And criterion validity of predictability of job embeddedness was examined by logistic regression. Finally, the limitations, future research directions and implications are discussed.
