이 글의 목표는 자신의 심리 상태에 대한 지식, 자기 지식을 갖는 것이 어떤 의미에서 행위자성의 행사인지를 명확하게 하고, 자기 지식에 대한 행위자성 이론의 더 나은 버전을 찾는 것이다. 자기 지식에 관한 행위자성 이론의 지지자들은 자신의 심리 상태에 관한 믿음을 투명한 방식으로 아는 것이 행위자성의 행사라고 주장한다. 즉, 자신의 심리 상태를 투명한 방식으로 아는 것은 단지 자신의 심리 상태에 대한 정보를 얻는 인식의 한 형태에 그치지 않으며, 인간의 합리성을 보여준다는 것이다. 리처드 모란은 이유에 대한 숙고를 통해 자기 지식이 투명한 방식으로 획득된다는 점을 주장했으며, 매튜 보일은 비정립적 의식에 대한 반성을 매개로 자기 지식을 투명한 방식으로 얻을 수 있다고 주장했다. 이 글에서는 모란과 보일의 입장을 비판적으로 검토하고, 이 중 보일의 입장을 택해서 자기 지식과 행위자성의 연관성을 보여주는 설명으로 발전시키고자 한다.
Abstract
This article aims to find a better version of the agential account on self-knowledge. Proponents of agential account on self-knowledge argue that acquiring transparent self-knowledge is the exercise of agency. In other words, knowing one's mental state is not just obtaining information about one's psychological state, but it also shows human rationality. Richard Moran argued that transparent self-knowledge is acquired through ‘deliberation on reasons’, and Matthew Boyle argued that transparent self-knowledge is acquired through reflective articulation of ‘non-positional consciousness’. In this article, I critically review the agential accounts of Moran and Boyle, and develop Boyle's account in a way to clarify the relationship between transparent self-knowledge and agency.
