The purpose of this article is to examine the desirable ways of teaching criticism in the classroom atmosphere. In the first part this article surveys the general history and applications of criticism in brief in terms of classroom settings. In the second part the practical, interrogative and reconstructive ways of everyday critical thoughts are emphasized through subjective reading against the text. In the later part of this article, I suggested the growing values of critical practices, reader and context-centered theory, and cultural and web-based criticism. To show the model of classroom criticism, I compared three well-known critical textbooks with three less well-known yet more recommendable critical textbooks. In the final analysis, by showing merits and demerits of the six mentioned textbooks, I provided teachers with some helpful tips in teaching criticism in the classroom.
