Enseigner le sous-titrage français-coréen Compte-rendu d’une expérience

초록

본 연구는 불어불문학과에서 개설된 영상 번역 입문 수업을 수강하는 학생들이 영상 번역 수행에 있어 주로 어려워하는 점을 개괄하고 이를 해결하기 위한 교수자의 대안책을 제안함으로써 학부 과정에서의 영상 번역 입문 수업에 관한 학생들의 흥미도 및 수업 가능성을 고찰해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 “TraduXio(http://traduxio. hypertopic.org”사이트를 활용하여 한 학생이 한 학기동안 두 번의 과제를 수행할 수 있도록 매 과제 당 50개의 대사를 두 세 명의 학습자에게 번역하게 한 후 번역을 하면서 어려웠던 점과 관련 해결책을 수업 시간에 발표하게 하였다. 그 후 학습자로 하여금 첫 번째 번역과 문제 해결 방법, 학생 및 교수자의 피드백에 기반 한 재번역을 표 형태로 작성하게 한 후 본 수업과 실제 영상 번역을 하면서 느낀 점을 언급하는 두 번째 과제를 제안하였다. 학습자가 영상번역에 있어 주요 원칙 및 특성, 다양한 문화적 표현들과 구어체 번 역, 검열과 관련된 부분들을 배울 수 있도록 인종, 종교, 문화적인 색채가 강한 필립 쇼브롱(Philippe Chauveron)의 영화 “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?”를 수업에서 다루었다. 영상 번역에 있어 학습자가 어려워하는 부분들은 주로 자막의 내용 전달 (accessibilité), 가독성(글자 수, 구두점, 생략과 압축 등), 내용의 적절성 등의 측면에서였고, 이를 해결하기 위해 교수자는 영상번역의 특수성, 이국화와 자국화, 일반화와 대체의 측면에서의 다양한 번역 전략들을 학생들에게 제시하였다. 결과적으로 학습자의 번역 수정 보고서와 소감을 통해 학습자가 수업 초기에 어려워했던 영상 번역의 여러 부분들에 있어 관련 노하우 및 다양한 도구 활용법을 터득함으로써 영상 번역에 흥미를 느낄 수 있었음을 알 수 있었고, 언어 및 상호 문화적 지식을 습득함과 동시에 영상번역 입문 수준에 이를 수 있는 가능성 또한 확인해 볼 수 있었다.
