최근 기업들이 신입사원을 채용할 때 가장 중요시 여기는 요소 중의 하나인 인턴십에 대한 대학생들의 관심이 높아지고 있다. 정부의 지원과 함께 많은 대학생들이 인턴십을 수행하고 있으나 인턴십의 성과와 효과성에 관한 연구는 거의 없을 뿐 아니라 인턴십의 현황 및 효과적인 제도구축을 위한 발전과제에 대한 연구도 그다지 많지 않다. 따라서 이 연구는 대학생들의 기업 인턴십 현황과 문제점을 고찰하고 인턴십의 발전 과제와 방안을 제시하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 전체 대학교와 대학생들을 대상으로 연구하기에 앞서 서울 소재 4년제 여자대학교를 사례로 기초연구를 실시하였다. 연구방법은 문헌조사와 심층면접 그리고 설문조사법을 사용하였다. 먼저 문헌조사와 인터넷 자료 검색을 통하여 인턴십의 현황과 효과를 고찰한 후 인턴십 교과목 담당연구원과 기업 인턴십 인사담당자를 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 설문조사를 위하여 상경계열 교과목 수강 학생들을 대상으로 2009년 9월 한 달 동안 설문조사를 실시하여 인턴십을 수행한 84명의 설문 답변내용을 분석하였다. 연구결과 대부분의 인턴십 참여자들은 인턴십 경험이 매우 도움이 되었다고 응답하였다. 그러나 기업에서 인턴에게 구체적인 업무를 주지 않거나 오리엔테이션이나 인턴십 매뉴얼 등이 없어 체계적인 인턴십을 경험하지 못하는 학생들도 상당수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 기업 차원에서 인턴들에게 보다 체계적인 인턴십 경험을 제공하기 위해서는 오리엔테이션, 업무매뉴얼, 지도사원(멘토), 의미를 부여할 수 있는 직무, 인턴십 종료 후 평가제도 등의 시스템을 갖추는 것이 매우 중요하다. 아울러 중소기업들을 위한 인턴십직무매뉴얼, 인턴십시행지침서 등을 전국경제인연합회나 정부 관련부서에서 차원에서 개발하는 등의 정책적 방안 마련이 필요하다.
Abstract
In recent years, the corporate internship becomes necessary condition along with the office skills such as English proficiency and computer competency for college graduate to secure a job. Many students participate internship programs during college years and college career center and industries offer various internship opportunities to students. But research studies related to the current status and effectiveness of the internship programs are not undertaken actively so far. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the current status and the development tasks of college students' corporate internship. To accomplish the purpose of the study, the concept of work-based experience and the effectiveness of internship were reviewed by examining the previous studies. The in-depth interviews with career development center staff and HR manager of a company were performed to identify the current practice of the internship. Then the survey data collected from 84 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The major findings of this study are as follows:(1) Most of the internship participants reported that the internship experience was very helpful and more internship opportunities should be provided to students. (2) Even though many companies have internship orientation program, mentor, and evaluation process, some companies did not have structured internship process for students. The unstructured operation of the internship causes unsatisfactory experience to students. Based on the results of this study, the suggestions for development tasks were made. Further studies on surveying large scale representative samples are needed to generalize the result of this study.
